Job Summary
Bolton Valley is seeking enthusiastic and responsible individuals to serve as
Camp Counselors for our youth mountain biking programs. This role involves leading campers in biking activities, ensuring safety on the trails, and fostering a fun and educational outdoor experience. The ideal candidate is passionate about mountain biking, enjoys working with children, and is committed to creating a positive and supportive camp environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Instruct and lead campers through daily mountain biking activities and skills development sessions.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of campers on and off the trails.
- Teach basic mountain biking techniques, trail etiquette, and bike maintenance.
- Provide encouragement and motivation to campers of all skill levels.
- Monitor and maintain bikes, helmets, and other equipment to ensure they are in safe working condition.
- Pre-season clinics required and must complete preseason training.
- Promotes safety and gives students the knowledge to remain safe when they leave camp.
NOTE: All Bolton Valley employees are required to perform alternate functions from time to time, both within and outside of their assigned department, particularly during peak periods such as holiday weekends.
Qualifications
- High School diploma
- Experience in mountain biking and outdoor recreation preferred.
- Prior experience working with children in a camp, coaching, or educational setting preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- High energy, patience, and a positive attitude.
- Knowledge of PMBIA certification process
- Must pass background check
Physical and Mental Demands: Must be capable of hiking and other recreational activities for prolonged periods of time (2+ hours at a time) to teach campers.
Work Environment: Work is performed both outside in all weather conditions, including extreme heat, wind and rain, on varied surfaces, as well as indoors. Indoor time is spent meeting and greeting, and in the sports center with children.
