PRIMARY EMPLOYMENT OBJECTIVES
The Lens Production Support Technician plays a critical role in keeping the lens fabrication department running smoothly. This position ensures that jobs move efficiently through the production area by supporting operators, preparing and verifying paperwork, coordinating workflow, and performing machine operation when needed. The technician also assists with CNC and laser setups, conducts in‑process checks, and maintains accurate documentation in the ERP system.
Specific Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The technician will be working in a manufacturing team environment ensuring all assigned work procedures are compliant with our written work instructions, quality standards and guidelines, or directions from supervisors or leads. Additional work duties to include compliance with general manufacturing housekeeping standards, safety rules and regulations and the flexibility to work on new assignments and miscellaneous duties as assigned.
- Production Workflow Coordination — Move jobs through the fabrication area, ensure work is processed in the correct order, and communicate job status to supervisors and operators.
- Operator Support — Assist team members with setups, documentation, tooling, and job preparation to keep production flowing.
- Paperwork & Documentation Handling — Print, verify, and organize job travelers, drawings, and operation lists; ensure all documentation matches job requirements.
- CNC Machine Operation — Run CNC lens‑milling machines during available time, monitor part quality, and follow established work instructions.
- CNC & Laser Setup Assistance — Load CNC files, set up basic tooling, and prepare laser marking equipment according to job specifications.
- In‑Process Quality Checks — Measure parts to drawings using calipers, micrometers, and other precision tools; document results as required.
- Troubleshooting Support — Identify and resolve basic machine, tooling, or workflow issues to minimize delays.
- Tooling Management — Issue, track, and verify correct tooling for each job; report worn or incorrect tools.
- ERP Data Entry — Enter labor, quantities, scrap, and job progress into the SyteLine ERP system accurately and on time.
- Material & Job Verification — Confirm that correct materials, drawings, and job packets are pulled before production begins.
Knowledge, Skill & Experience Requirements
- Experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and job travelers.
- Familiarity with CNC machine operation (no programming required).
- Strong organizational skills for managing paperwork and job flow.
- Proficiency with precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges).
- Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
- Strong communication skills for supporting operators and supervisors.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast‑paced production environment.
- Experience with ERP systems (SyteLine preferred).
- High attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
- Experience in lens fabrication, optics, or precision machining.
- Prior work as a Production Technician, Manufacturing Technician, or CNC Operator.
- Experience with laser marking systems.
- Basic understanding of G‑code reading (not programming).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- U.S. Government Authorization required.

- Fast‑paced production floor Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus.
- Ability to lift at least 20 pounds.
