Role Description The Human Resources Director is a full-time, on-site role located in Brattleboro, VT responsible for overseeing all strategic and operational HR functions. This role leads the development and implementation of HR policies, programs, and initiatives that support organizational goals, ensure compliance, and promote a positive workplace culture. Day-to-day responsibilities include managing employee relations, guiding performance management processes, advising leaders on workforce planning, and overseeing recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies. The Human Resources Director will interpret and apply labor and employment laws, manage HR risk, and partner with senior leadership on organizational development, compensation, and benefits strategy. This role also leads and develops the HR team, ensuring consistent, equitable, and timely HR support for all departments.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in core Human Resources (HR) practices, including strategic HR leadership and HR operations.
- Demonstrated experience developing, implementing, and maintaining clear and compliant HR policies and procedures.
- Proven expertise in Employee Relations, including conflict resolution, coaching, investigations, and employee engagement initiatives.
- Hands-on experience with Performance Management, including goal setting, feedback processes, and performance improvement plans.
- In-depth knowledge of Labor and Employment Law, including federal and state regulations, compliance, and risk mitigation.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and change management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate at all organizational levels.
- Experience leading and mentoring HR teams, and partnering with senior leadership on organizational strategy.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced degree or HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP/SCP, PHR/SPHR) preferred.
- Proficiency with HRIS systems, data analysis, and HR reporting to support data-informed decision-making.
