The Building Maintenance & Custodian is responsible for performing daily cleaning and basic maintenance & repairs across several locations. Daily cleaning is expected to represent approximately half of this position. Weekly cleaning and additional “deep cleaning” are also required at other Burlington locations. More locations may be added in the future. General maintenance will include basic maintenance such as moving small furniture or items up to 50 lbs., replacing lighting, painting, minimal maintenance/building exterior maintenance, maintaining fixtures, consulting with building/maintenance items, and coordination with outside vendors on larger projects. This is a full-time nonexempt position consisting of 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday 7:00 am – 3:00 pm, pays $23.00 - $25.00 per hour, and is eligible for a robust benefits package including health, HRA, dental, vision, life insurance, STD, LTD, accrued vacation, accrued health leave, and a 403(b) retirement plan.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Daily cleaning at the Burlington Drop-in, Pearl Street Residence, The Landing and The Nightly Shelter. Included but not limited to vacuuming, trash, surface cleaning, mopping, bathrooms, and offices.
- Weekly extended cleaning at the Burlington Drop-in, Pearl Street Residence, and the Landing
- Two times per week cleaning at other Burlington properties
- Take a proactive approach to the cleanliness and appearance of all Spectrum properties and spaces
- Custodial duties expected to be approximately 20 hours per week
- Perform basic maintenance & repairs to Spectrum property, spaces, furniture, or on behalf of staff
- Tasks will include but are not limited to:
- Maintaining and prioritizing staff maintenance request
- Furniture assembly
- Painting
- General building maintenance
- Delivery of packages & furniture between locations
- Minor landscaping/exterior building cleaning
- Coordination with outside vendors on larger building or maintenance projects
Knowledge and Skills Required
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in general construction or minor repairs & maintenance
- A valid driver’s license

Work Environment
General fast-paced environment. This position frequently works independently. The position requires standing a large portion of the day, standing, and frequently walking and/or driving between locations in downtown Burlington.
