General Purpose
This team will be based out of Oakledge Park and will assume lite maintenance of the park. Opening restrooms in the morning. Closing them at night. While also cleaning them. This team will have to post shelter rentals and clean shelter spaces as needed.
This position will roam from beach to beach cleaning up trash and debris from the beach and checking water quality. Candidates will learn the City of Burlington’s water testing process and procedures. Candidates will be responsible for posting and removing beach closed signs as well as testing water for Cyanobacteria. Candidates will be well versed in customer service as they will be out in the public the most doing testing.
Shifts will be 8am – 4pm & 1pm – 9pm, 2 people per shift.

Pay Grade: $20.14 - $22.66 Hourly
Remote Tier 1: Zero (0) days remote/week
Essential Job Functions
- Enforce and observe park and City rules.
- Help people understand beach closures and opening procedures.
- cleaning bathrooms, wrapping firewood, & general lawn maintenance.
- Assist beach customers as needed
- Will have to learn to navigate the bike path.
- Should be able to kayak or paddleboard to do water sampling.
- Be able to and eager to learn new skills
- Must be able to learn about and spot Cyanobacteria
- Must be able to learn and field questions about water quality based on BPRW’ s water testing
- Must be able to learn how to use Abraxis Strip tests and be able to visually identify the different forms of Cyanobacteria.
Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements

- 18 years old and older
- Water quality or environmental science experience a plus
- Must have a driver’s license and must be able to pass a motor vehicle check
- Operation of a City vehicle or personal vehicle to conduct City business without providing proof of a valid driver's license to Human Resources will not be permitted. A valid driver’s license shall be defined as a current state of residence-issued license to operate a motor vehicle on public roadways. Position also requires the ability to be covered under the City’s vehicle insurance policy prior to operation of any City vehicles or non-City vehicles for City business
