About Mount Prospect Academy
Founded in 2003, Mount Prospect Academy is a rapidly growing nonprofit organization dedicated to helping adolescents overcome challenges and achieve success in school, relationships, and life.
We provide residential treatment, special education services, community-based programming, and mental health support throughout New England. Our mission is to create a caring, safe therapeutic environment where students can develop confidence, resilience, and skills for lifelong success.
Position Overview
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining facilities located within a 5-mile radius of one another in Pike, NH:
- An 18-bed residential home serving youth
- A school serving up to 25 students daily
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys a diverse workload that combines building maintenance, groundskeeping, repairs, vendor coordination, safety inspections, and preventative maintenance.
You'll help ensure our facilities remain safe, attractive, and fully operational for students, staff, and visitors.
What You'll Do
Facility Maintenance & Repairs
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance
- Repair drywall, doors, hinges, flooring, and other building components
- Assist with painting, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general repairs
- Respond to maintenance requests promptly
- Conduct routine facility inspections and safety walkthroughs
Grounds & Property Upkeep
- Lawn care, landscaping, gardening, and seasonal maintenance
- Snow removal and ice management
- Trim trees, shrubs, and hedges
- Maintain clean, attractive grounds year-round
Safety & Compliance
- Conduct facility safety checks
- Coordinate and support fire drill procedures
- Ensure compliance with fire and safety requirements
- Manage building keys and access controls
Vendor & Equipment Management
- Coordinate and oversee outside contractors
- Maintain company vehicles and equipment
- Track vehicle maintenance records and inspections
- Ensure vehicles remain fueled and operational
Team Collaboration
- Communicate regularly with program leadership and staff
- Provide excellent customer service to employees and residents
- Participate in emergency on-call maintenance support as needed
Required Qualifications
What We're Looking For
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Basic computer skills, including email and internet use
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications - Previous maintenance, facilities, construction, or property management experience
- Working knowledge of:
- Plumbing
- Electrical systems
- HVAC systems
- Carpentry
- Grounds maintenance
- Experience operating hand tools, power tools, and commercial equipment
