The Position: The
Café Shift Leader is responsible for supervising and supporting daily operations at King Arthur Baking Company’s flagship destination in Norwich, Vermont. The Café Shift Leader reports to Café Front of House Manager and is integral to providing outstanding customer experience, efficient operations processes, and a positive work environment.

The Location: Norwich, VT; onsite daily.
The Pay: $19.64 to $22.14 per hour worked; commensurate with experience.
The Schedule: 40 hours per week with weekend availability required.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Supervise daily café operations, including opening and closing procedures, merchandising, ordering, daily par management and product inventory levels.
- Supervise cafe staff, including delegating daily tasks, setting break schedules, and responding to needs of the business. Foster a positive work environment that promotes teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Partner with Front of House Manager to set priorities for the Café team, monitor team performance, and regularly provide feedback.
- Promote and ensure excellent customer service is provided by all staff members, this includes handling complaints or issues, promoting impactful product merchandizing and ensuring a positive experience for all visitors.
- Ensures adherence to all food safety and sanitary policies, procedures, and regulations in accordance with Vermont Department of Health.
- Oversee and deliver Point of Service (POS) training. and ensure cash handling procedures are adhered to. Prepare deposits and maintain accurate records.
- Oversee online ordering platform including daily pars and item management, team training and customer issue resolution.
Minimum Job Requirements
- 1-2 years of leadership experience in a Retail, Restaurant/Café, or Hospitality role.
- Proficient with point of sale (POS) systems and Microsoft Office
- Experience in a fast-paced café environment a plus.
- Flexibility: morning, evening and weekend shifts required

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an indoor cafe environment with exposure to sound and temperature of espresso machines as well as cleaning products. Employees may also work around knives, slicers and other sharp objects. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but may be loud dependent on specific work site and/or equipment operation as well as customer traffic.
