Northwestern Medical Center (NMC) is seeking a Hematology & Coagulation Section Specialist to join our collaborative Laboratory team in St. Albans, Vermont. This is an excellent opportunity for a laboratory professional who has a passion for hematology and coagulation testing and wants to deepen their expertise in these areas while continuing to grow professionally as a generalist.
NMC's full-service Laboratory performs more than 300,000 tests annually, is accredited by the College of American Pathologists, and provides testing across hematology, coagulation, chemistry, microbiology, serology, transfusion services, surgical pathology, urinalysis, and other disciplines. The Laboratory also collaborates with the University of Vermont Medical Center and Mayo Medical Reference Laboratories for specialized testing.
Your Opportunity
As the Hematology & Coagulation Section Specialist, you'll serve as a key technical resource within the Laboratory, bringing specialized knowledge and a commitment to quality to the hematology and coagulation disciplines.
You'll have the opportunity to help ensure accurate, timely, high-quality laboratory testing while collaborating with an experienced team of laboratory professionals and clinical partners. Just as importantly, this role offers the opportunity to contribute beyond your primary specialty and continue developing your skills across the laboratory.
The ideal candidate has a genuine passion for Hematology and Coagulation testing along with the curiosity and desire to continue growing professionally as a laboratory generalist.
What You'll Bring to the Team
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Serve as a technical resource for hematology and coagulation testing
- Support accurate, timely, and high-quality laboratory results
- Promote quality, consistency, and best practices within assigned testing areas
- Assist with troubleshooting complex testing, instrumentation, processes, and results
- Support quality control, competency, regulatory, and accreditation requirements within the section
- Collaborate closely with laboratory colleagues, providers, and other clinical partners
- Share your technical knowledge and help support the development of fellow team members
- Participate in process improvement and help identify opportunities to strengthen laboratory operations
- Remain engaged in general laboratory operations and build broader expertise as a generalist
