The CNC Machining Technician successfully performs set up and operation of CNC machining equipment to machine RPD™ titanium preforms and other materials into finished components that conform to drawing and customer requirements, while maintaining safe work practices and consistent first-pass quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Sets up 4+ axis CNC mills and Mill-Turn lathes, including fixtures, workholding, tooling, and work and tool offsets, per setup sheets and work instructions
- Loads and verifies approved CNC programs, then proves out new setups through dry runs and first-piece checks before releasing to production
- Operates CNC equipment to machine RPD™ titanium preforms and other materials to engineering drawings and specifications
- Reads and interprets engineering drawings, GD&T callouts, routers, and travelers
- Performs in-process and final inspection using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, bore gauges, thread gauges, and indicators, and records results accurately
- Completes production and inspection records on time and in compliance with AS9100, AS9102 first article, and customer requirements
- Performs routine machine care, including coolant concentration checks, lubrication, chip management, and cleaning, and reports equipment problems to Maintenance
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or certificate in precision machining, machine tool technology, or a related field preferred
- 5+ years of CNC setup experience in a production machining environment, preferably aerospace or defense
- Experience machining titanium, nickel alloys, or other difficult-to-machine metals strongly preferred
- Experience machining castings, forgings or additively manufactured components preferred
- Working knowledge of G-code and M-code and experience with common controls such as Fanuc, Siemens, or Heidenhain
- Proficient in blueprint reading, GD&T (ASME Y14.5), and shop math
- 5-axis machining experience and familiarity with CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, NX) preferred
- Familiarity with AS9100 quality systems and first article inspection

- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to first-time quality
- Mechanical aptitude and a methodical approach to troubleshooting
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision and communicate clearly at shift handoffs
- Ability to prioritize work across multiple jobs or machines
- Willingness to learn new equipment, materials, and processes
- U.S. Person status required due to access to export‑controlled technical data (ITAR)
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, with reasonable accommodations available
