Position Overview
Bell Federal Systems Inc. (BFSI) is seeking an experienced Lead Registered Nurse (RN) Case Manager to support the Vermont Army National Guard Office of the State Surgeon. The Lead RN Case Manager serves as the primary clinical lead responsible for overseeing medical case management activities, coordinating Soldier medical readiness programs, supporting Medical Evaluation Board (MEB) and Physical Evaluation Board (PEB) processes, and ensuring timely and accurate case tracking in accordance with Army National Guard policies and procedures.
The successful candidate will provide direct case management support, supervise case management operations, coordinate with military and civilian healthcare providers, and ensure compliance with all applicable HIPAA, Department of Defense, and Army National Guard requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Medical Case Management
- Serve as the Lead RN Case Manager supporting the Vermont Army National Guard medical readiness program.
- Coordinate and monitor medical case management services for Soldiers requiring medical follow-up, treatment, or readiness actions.
- Maintain accurate case documentation and tracking within Government-approved systems.
- Ensure all assigned medical cases are reviewed, monitored, and updated in accordance with established timelines.
Medical Readiness Support
- Assist with Soldier Readiness Processing (SRP) events and mobilization activities.
- Monitor medical readiness metrics and assist with deployability assessments.
- Coordinate with military treatment facilities, civilian healthcare providers, and military leadership to facilitate continuity of care.
- Support medical retention determinations and readiness reporting activities.
MEB / PEB Support
- Coordinate Medical Evaluation Board (MEB) and Physical Evaluation Board (PEB) case management activities.
- Track case progress and ensure timely completion of required actions.
- Assist Soldiers in navigating the medical board process and coordinating required medical documentation.
Quality Assurance & Reporting
- Provide oversight and guidance to RN Case Managers and Medical Records Technicians.
- Review case files for completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
- Develop and submit monthly reports detailing case status, readiness metrics, and program performance.
- Participate in quality assurance reviews and continuous process improvement initiatives.
Compliance & Security
- Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA, Privacy Act, and Department of Defense information security requirements.
- Safeguard Protected Health Information (PHI) and Personally Identifiable Information (PII).
- Complete all required Government training and credentialing requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in any U.S. state or territory.
Experience
- Minimum five (5) years of nursing experience.
- Minimum three (3) years of case management experience.
- Experience coordinating complex medical cases involving multiple stakeholders.
- Experience using electronic medical records and case management systems.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong understanding of medical case management principles.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher.
- Certified Case Manager (CCM) credential.
- Military healthcare experience.
- Army National Guard medical readiness experience.
- Medical Evaluation Board (MEB) and Physical Evaluation Board (PEB) experience.
- Experience with:
- MHS GENESIS
- MEDCHART
- MEDPROS
- AHLTA
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience.
Travel Requirements
- Occasional travel may be required to support Soldier Readiness Processing events, mobilization activities, and other Vermont Army National Guard locations.
- Ability to support contingency operations and continuity of operations events when required.
