The Hermitage Club is seeking passionate and dedicated Ski/Snowboard Instructors to join its Snowsports Team. This role shares a passion for skiing and snowboarding with Members and Guests while delivering high-quality instruction to individuals and groups. It fosters a safe, positive, and engaging learning environment that encourages growth and enthusiasm for snowsports. Whether new to teaching or experienced, Instructors play a vital role in supporting member engagement and inspiring a lifelong interest in skiing and snowboarding, with comprehensive training provided to support success.
Lesson Programs: Include, but are not limited to:
- Mountain Yeti's Seasonal Program for ages 3-6
- Mountain Explorers Seasonal Program for ages 7-12
- Daily Private and Group Lessons for all ages and abilities
- Adaptive Private Lessons
Pay Rates
- $18.00/hr- Non-Certified
- $22.00/hr - Level 1
- $35.00/hr - Level 2
- $50.00/hr - Level 3
- $55.00/hr - PSIA-AASI Development Teams
- $60.00/hr - PSIA-AASI Examiner
- + Additional base rate incentives for specialist certifications and multi-discipline certified instructors
- + 15% Auto-Gratuity for all lessons
Paid Training And Certification Reimbursement
- Paid training offered at $20/hr.
- Reimbursement programs for attaining new certifications, attending required prerequisites, and required CEU update events.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with check-in process and group assignment at line-up
- Provide personalized, customer-centered instruction to skiers/riders of all levels, ensuring a positive and enjoyable experience
- Adapt communication styles to suit student age, skill level, and comprehension, using clear language and demonstrations.
- Modify teaching methods and lesson plans based on varying student progress, skill levels, weather conditions, and terrain challenges to keep instruction effective.
- Clearly and accurately provide instruction for assigned teaching levels, using both physical demonstrations and verbal communication.
- Act as a positive, professional role model, adhering to the club’s hospitality standards.
- Support overall member experience through responsiveness, professionalism, and program knowledge
Safety & Supervision
- Required to comply with and adhere to all policies and procedures set forth by The Hermitage Club.
- Be responsible for the supervision and care of students throughout the entire lesson
- Ensuring release of students in accordance with policies and procedures
- Promote and maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment.
- Monitor and attend to students’ physical and emotional needs throughout the day.
- Maintain positive, informative, and courteous communication with members, guests, and fellow staff.
Team Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with Snowsports Management Team
- Represent the Snowsports team professionally and contribute to a supportive, team-oriented culture.
- Participate in required training sessions and on-the-job development opportunities.
- Willingness to guide and develop Junior Instructors
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Be at least 16 (sixteen) years of age at the time of hire.
- Ability to ski/snowboard at an intermediate/advanced level
- Supply well-maintained personal equipment appropriate for their discipline
- Successful background check.
- Be fluent in English, both verbal and written.
- Able to communicate effectively to groups, individuals, guests, and colleagues
- Available to work weekends and holidays.
- Work effectively across a wide range of ages and abilities
Preferred Attributes
- Patience and empathy when working with children and families of all skill levels
- Experience in teaching, coaching, or youth programming
- Flexibility to support training needs, group changes, and schedule adjustments
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Ability to ski, stand, and remain active for extended periods
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds, and up to 20 pounds frequently.
- Ability to work outdoors for prolonged periods in winter alpine conditions, including inclement weather
