Duties
- Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures including oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry with precision and care.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental equipment, and ensuring all clinical tools meet infection prevention standards.
- Take and develop dental X-rays using advanced imaging technology such as 3D scanners and digital radiography systems while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA regulations.
- Manage patient records accurately within EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring all medical documentation complies with clinical confidentiality policies.
- Provide chairside assistance by handling dental instruments efficiently during procedures and practicing four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize patient comfort.
- Monitor vital signs and assist in medical imaging when necessary to support comprehensive patient care.
- Support administrative tasks such as patient check-in/out, verifying insurance information, and coordinating appointments using patient management software like Epic or similar systems.
- Uphold infection control standards through proper sterilization procedures, aseptic techniques, and adherence to healthcare infection prevention protocols.
- Educate patients on oral health practices, post-treatment care instructions, and answer questions about general dentistry or pediatric dentistry procedures.
Qualifications
- Valid certification as a Registered Dental Assistant with radiology endoresement.
- Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with knowledge of dental assisting techniques and terminology.
- Proficiency with dental software including Eaglesoft or similar EMR systems.
- Strong understanding of infection prevention management, sterilization procedures, and aseptic technique.
- Ability to operate dental equipment such as X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and other clinical tools confidently.
- Knowledge of medical terminology relevant to dental and pediatric dentistry practices.
- Excellent communication skills for effective patient management and collaboration within the healthcare team.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure the confidentiality of medical records and patient information.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including standing for extended periods, lifting instruments or supplies, and maintaining clinical confidentiality at all times.
