GENERAL MAINTENANCE WORKER

Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced
General Maintenance Worker to perform operation, maintenance, and repair services at a federal facility in Rutland, VT. This position requires a well-rounded maintenance professional with hands-on experience across multiple building trades, including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, masonry, and general mechanical maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general maintenance, repairs, and upkeep of building systems, equipment, and facilities.
- Replace electrical receptacles, wiring, switches, fixtures, and motors.
- Patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings using plaster or compound.
- Repair or replace sinks, water coolers, toilets, and related plumbing fixtures.
- Paint floors, steps, sidewalks, and other building surfaces.
- Replace damaged paneling, floor tiles, and other interior finishes.
- Hang and repair doors and install or replace locks.
- Replace broken window panes and perform general building repairs.
- Inspect equipment and machinery and perform routine maintenance as needed.
- Respond to maintenance service calls and troubleshoot building-related issues.
- Perform preventive maintenance and assist with maintaining mechanical building systems.
- Follow established safety procedures and maintain a clean and safe work environment.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 4 years of experience performing general maintenance and repair work.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Practical knowledge and hands-on experience in multiple maintenance trades, including:
- Electrical.
- Plumbing.
- Carpentry.
- Painting.
- Masonry.
- General mechanical maintenance.
- Ability to safely use common hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a maintenance team.
- Commercial HVAC repair and maintenance experience is a plus.
- Experience with preventive maintenance, routine service calls, and mechanical building systems is highly desirable.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
- $32.90 per hour base pay.
