Job Description
We are looking for a
Balanced and Restorative Justice Prevention Outreach Specialist to join our Easterseals VT team! The individual in this key position will support the prevention and onset of substance misuse disorder in youth by promoting healthy lifestyles and optimizing well-being among youth, their families, and communities, in consistency with the State of Vermont Department of Health’s Division of Substance Use Programs Grant. Responsibilities include:
- Collaborate and coordinate with schools in Addison County District to obtain information about chronically absent youth; contact families to provide appropriate referrals to community health and social service agencies.
- Receive referrals from local schools and administer the Youth Attendance Family Survey (YAFS), which includes Social Determinates of Health (SDOH) and Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES) questions, to assess risk level and grow protective factors within families.
- Administer the Youth Assessment Screening Instrument (YASI) as appropriate.
- Make referrals to appropriate agencies as indicated by YAFS and YASI.
- Complete monthly documentation on each referral, and submit reports that include referrals made, increase in protective factors, attendance, and harm reduction.
- Submit quarterly reports to Vermont Prevention Lead Organization (VPLO) Coordinator
- Meet with school staff to deliver Attendance Works Materials and attendance plans to be used with youth.
- Submit invoices for activities completed, along with supporting documentation, including hourly time tracking if applicable.
- Attend trainings and workshops related to substance use prevention at the request of the VPLO Coordinator.
- Attend check-in meetings as requested by the VPLO Coordinator.
- Attend Chronic Absenteeism Workgroup Meetings and Addison County Substance Use & Prevention Coalition meetings.
- Attend up to four (4) All-Awardee Meetings as requested by the VPLO Coordinator.
- Attend one-on-one prevention training with the Division of Substance Use Programs (DSU) Prevention Consultants and VPLO Coordinator to further advance implementation of evidence-based or evidence-informed strategies.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships and active communication with DCF and Easterseals staff within the provisions of the law and with respect to confidentiality requirements.
This position is set to start 8/18/2026.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with one (1) year relevant experience, OR
- Associate's degree with four (4) years' relevant experience, OR
- HS Diploma or equivalent with eight (8) years' relevant experience
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Compensation: $23 hourly.
Hours: This is a full-time, 30 hour/week position. The schedule can be flexible based on family's needs.
