About This Role
Hunger Mountain Children's Center, a non-profit child care and preschool, is seeking an energetic Teacher Assistant/Floater to join our team. This is a great opportunity for a reliable and motivated educator to work with children from infants to age five in a play-based environment. The Teacher Assistant will be responsible for ensuring the safety, well-being, and health of children while supporting classroom teachers by creating a caring and safe environment and assisting in activities to improve the overall quality of education. They must be able to communicate, listen and work well with others in a team environment.
What You'll Do
- Cover for teachers during breaks, vacations, sick days, planning time, etc.
- Ensure safety of classroom and children at all times
- Help children maintain healthy hygiene and change diapers
- Communicate and build relationships with children and families
- Help manage the appearance and cleanliness of the facility
- Abide by Vermont Licensing Regulations
Requirements
The candidate must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma. We are willing to train the right individual.
Nice To Haves
- The ideal candidate will have completed the state's Fundamentals in Early Childhood Education class or a 3 credit course in early childhood education - or able to complete the class within 6 months
- An added bonus would be an Early Childhood Apprenticeship Certificate, Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education and/or qualify as a Teacher or Teacher Associate through VT licensing regulations, which would qualify for a higher salary.
