Vermont Workforce Collaborative
Vermont Workforce Collaborative is a newly formed nonprofit organization created to strengthen Vermont’s workforce through collaboration, education, leadership development, and community-based solutions.
We believe Vermont’s workforce challenges cannot be solved by one organization alone. Our goal is to bring together employers, nonprofits, educators, workforce partners, community leaders, and individuals with lived experience to build stronger pathways to meaningful employment and economic opportunity across Vermont.
As we begin this work, we are seeking Founding Board Members who are passionate about workforce development, community impact, equity, education, recovery, leadership, and building stronger local economies.
About the Role
Founding Board Members will help guide the early development of Vermont Workforce Collaborative, including shaping the organization’s mission, programs, partnerships, governance, and long-term strategy.
This is a volunteer leadership role ideal for someone who wants to be part of building something meaningful from the ground up.
Board Member Responsibilities May Include:
- Helping guide the mission, vision, and strategic direction of the organization
- Attending board meetings and participating in early organizational planning
- Supporting the development of bylaws, policies, and governance practices
- Helping build community partnerships and funding relationships
- Providing insight into Vermont’s workforce, nonprofit, education, business, or community needs
- Serving as an ambassador for the organization
- Supporting future grant, fundraising, and program development efforts
- Ensuring the organization remains accountable to its mission and the communities it serves
We Are Especially Interested in People With Experience In:
- Workforce development
- Nonprofit leadership
- Education or career training
- Human resources or organizational development
- Legal Services
- Finance, accounting, or fundraising
- Grant writing or philanthropy
- Business ownership or employer relations
- Recovery services, reentry, housing, transportation, or barrier-reduction work
- Community organizing or economic development
- Lived experience navigating barriers to employment
You do not need to have prior board experience to be considered. We are looking for people who are thoughtful, mission-aligned, collaborative, and committed to strengthening opportunities for Vermonters.
Time Commitment
The anticipated time commitment is approximately 2–4 hours per month during the early formation stage, including meetings, planning, and occasional follow-up tasks.
Compensation
This is a volunteer board position. Board members are not paid employees of the organization.
